Good news!

All children are finally eligible for the health insurance plan and the general drug insurance plan regardless of their parents’ status in Canada.

From now on, minor children are eligible for both public plans, regardless of their place of birth or their status, if they meet certain conditions, such as being present in Quebec for more than 6 months, during their stay (if they are temporary residents) or per year (if they are residents), regardless of their parents’ eligibility. Children born outside of Canada who apply for refugee status are covered by the Interim Federal Health Program.
