Informing yourself about the nutritional values of foods
The Nutrient Value of Some Common Foods booklet lists the nutrients of most significance from a public health perspective and their contribution to 1,100 of the most commonly consumed foods in Canada. Nutrient values from the CNF are presented as average household measurement of the ready-to-eat foods. These amounts do not always correspond exactly to the serving sizes listed in Canada’s Food Guide, which is intended to promote healthy eating habits among various ages and gender groups.
