Before you train for a particular trade or profession, make sure a hypoglycaemic episode would not put lives at risk
You can be just about anything !
But you have to be realistic, there are rare jobs that you will not be able to do.
- Armed force
- Aircraft pilot
- Sailor in international waters
Some occupations set demands of people with medical conditions, so it’s best to check before training.
Here are few occupations that may pose challenges to diabetics:

- Ambulance attendan
- Worker at heights (lineperson, construction worker)
- Heavy equipment operator

Remember that despite these recommendations, they are only suggestions to ensure your well-being and that of others. Do not limit yourself in your dreams!
Some professions are very demanding in terms of medical requirements

If you dream of being an ambulance driver, just like Amylee Hamelin, type 1 diabetic since the age of 8, the road to this career choice is not closed to you, however, it may require some extra effort.
One thing to remember: Make your dreams come true!
